Texas Product Changes

I am sending this special edition of Hettlinger Highlights to you as a response to the calls and e-mails I’ve been receiving about the changes to LSW annuities due to Texas regulations. My intention is not to clutter your inbox with junk but to keep you well informed as the June 1 effective date has now passed. This e-mail addresses the two most common questions I’ve been asked within the past month.

What types of product changes have been made?

Product changes are of two types: (1) lower maximum issue ages, or (2) reduced Withdrawal Charges at higher issue ages. Please see the Summary of LSW Product Changes in Texas for a summary of products affected and the changes that became effective June 1, 2010.

Keep in mind policies issued after May 31 are subject to the new regulations. Certain policies may not be issuable any longer. If you have a policy application in house that does not conform to the new regulations, and money was not received by May 31, you will need to write a new application that does conform to the Texas regulations.
To make it easy I’ve attached all the TX product grids. Simply click the links at left to view the specific type of product you write the most.

Have Commissions Changed?

On some products commissions have been reduced at older ages because withdrawal charges have been reduced.

Hettlinger Highlights Calendar Contest!

The 2011 Calendar contest will include landscape photos and those photos you believe to be so incredible they need to be shared with thousands! The contest runs from May 1 through November 1, 2010. Please email your photo submissions directly to my email address at DHettlinger@nationallife.com. Subject: Calendar Photo Submission.

A Flip MiniHD™ video camera will be awarded for each photo selected.

The selection will be decided in Dallas by LSW employees from each department. All photos need to be high-quality digital files to ensure the best reproduction. Ideal specs are at least 3000 X 2000 pixel in size. JPG and other formats are acceptable, but Raw format is preferred if available.
